5 star shine 6 months review

Six months ago I exchanged $100 of my sweat money for a box full of 5 Star Shine products (the sweat part is a joke, I don't sweat from my work, maybe clammy hands but that's it). I applied the product in May when the weather just started to warm up. Now it's almost December. After an entire hot and rainy summer in Toronto, I think this product is holding up as expected. You can see my original post here when I first bought the product. Below are some questions potential consumers might want to know from someone who actually used the product, and not just rely on the company's website because it looks sketchy.

Does this product really last 5 years as the company claims?

I do not know. 5 years is a long time for any car paint product. I'm skeptical. Maybe McDonald's hamburgers can last that long but I'm not sure about 5 Star Shine. So far this product on my car has only seen one hot summer. It has stood up against heat well, not sure about winter conditions.

Can this product hold up against road salt?

I contacted 5 Star Shine regarding this issue and they told me 5 Star Shine can withstand road salt. I will let you know after this winter when Toronto dumps 140,000 tons of salt. I'm not kidding, this is offical statistic.

Does this product repel dirt like the company claims?

I noticed that dust and bug tarts are a bit easier to remove. In the summer I hit a lot of bugs on highways and all I did was washing the spots with car soap and a little bit of elbow grease and tarts come off. I didn't need to use my finger to pick on it like some other people would do. That's nasty.

Is the product easy to apply?

Hells no! It was more tedious to apply than other car wax. There are step 1, step 2 and do this do that. Follow their instructions! Do it right. Cancel the Saturday date with the lady and allocate a whole day for your car.

Is the cost worth it?

I bought the deluxe kit for $100. It came with Step 1 and step 2 solutions, a detailing clay bar, a polishing pad, towel, detailing spray and car wash soap. I believe the company also offers only Step 1 and Step 2 solution for $60. It's still much more expensive than other car wax. If you have the money, try it, it doesn't damage car paint. You can buy cheaper car wax, but you just have to wax more frequently. The company also claims that this is not a wax, they say it's better than wax. I wish this product can shield me from bullets.

How often do I wash my car?

Since I do not drive my car often, my car doesn't get dirty quickly. I usually wash my car as often as I cut my hair, which is about every 5 weeks. Only if I can figure out a cost effective way to ship the water that I saved to Africa, then I could probably solve their thirst problem.

Will this product make my car a chick magnet?

Yes it will provided that you have a nice car and a handsome face.

Conclusion?

So far the 5 Star Shine product is holding up well for the past 6 months. Up until this point, I don't think this product is a scam even though their company website looks like it was created by a 10 year old.

I will do a one year review after the winter. Stay tuned! Meanwhile drive safely. Take extra precaution if you encounter drivers with crappy cars.
